  1. Hi! I just found your podcast and wanted to comment on your podcast about bikram yoga. I am not instructor, but had a regular practice (4-6x/week) for 6 years in New York City as a supplement to my dance career. This is what I learned from my experience of taking classes:
    *there is a certification process: teachers go through a rigorous training; 6 days a week for about 3 months.
    *teachers DO recommend that students sit down as much as they need to, especially, during their first few weeks of beginning so that students bodies adjust to the heat.
    *teachers recommend that you ‘sip’ on water during class so that not to upset your digestive system (postures that twist in the torso are going to put temporary strain on internal organs.. and if your stomach is full of water or food, it will not be comfortable) . They recommend that you come into the hot room fully hydrated and continuing to hydrate afterwards. The goal for students is that you come into the room properly hydrated, so that reduce the feeling of needing to drink a lot of water during.

    Just wanted to share!
