Adults drank far more alcohol during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a new study in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Early in the lockdown, national sales of alcohol increased over 50 percent compared to the year before. But now researchers have found that more than 3 in 4 adults drank alcohol one day more each month. Days of heavy drinking also increased. And nearly 1 in 10 women developed mental health problems related to the alcohol, like anxiety or depression.
