We’ve heard about the rise in coronavirus cases earlier this summer across the United States, but the same trend is happening now in Europe. In recent days, France has recorded its highest daily tally of the new cases since the height of the pandemic in April. Spain has Europe’s most significant resurgence. Italy and Germany have seen more COVID-19 as well. Like here in the U.S., much of the rise is concentrated among younger people and asymptomatic cases, and death rates are not climbing at the same rates as positive tests. What remains to be seen is whether this rise in European cases is the feared “second wave” of COVID-19.
