Developing a skin infection like a staph infection from wearing a mask is not at all common. But it’s at least possible. You could have an open wound on your face like a shaving cut or open sore from popping a pimple and then the bacteria from your nose or any bacteria on the mask could, in theory, infect that open wound. So to prevent that possibility, wash your face regularly with an antibacterial soap or facial cleanser, treat or cover any open wounds, and wash your cloth mask every day or wear a new surgical mask every day.
