A new study from the CDC shows you are much more likely to be infected by the coronavirus if you had immunity from a prior infection than if you have immunity related to the vaccine. CDC investigators examined data from adults in Kentucky who had COVID-19 in 2020. Compared to those people who had immunity from the COVID-19 vaccine, people with a prior infection were more than twice as likely to acquire a breakthrough infection. This data suggests that even if you already had COVID-19, getting the vaccine decreases your chances of being reinfected.
