The COVID-19 pandemic and its lockdowns across much of the country have led to mental health struggles for a huge percentage of young adults. Researchers at the University of Miami surveyed over 1,000 Americans aged 18 to 35. Eighty percent described significant depressive symptoms. Worse than that, well over half admitted increases in loneliness and anxiety. Almost half reported significant increases in alcohol and drug use. Young adults need to do whatever they can to maintain social relationships, and those struggling with mental health should ask their doctors for help.
